It’s Playoff Time

153 days.  That’s how long it has been since the first FBS team kicked off its fall practice for the 2015 season.  Since that time, 128 teams have competed at the highest level of college football for a chance to hold the trophy at the end of the season.  But now we’re down to just 4 teams still standing with a chance at the College Football Playoff National Championship.

2015 Bowl Season: By the Numbers

Over the next 24 days we get to experience the most magical time of year.  No, we’re not talking about the holidays, but those are pretty nice too.  We are talking about bowl season!


That’s right, for 24 days you get to feast your eyes on bowl games being played everywhere from Hawaii to New York City.  The best part is that for the 2nd time it will culminate with a playoff to decide the FBS national champion.  At XOS, we’ve put together this list of some of the numbers that will get you primed for bowl season.


2015 sees a record number number of bowl games, 41 to be exact (including the National Championship Game), and 2 more than last season.


A total of 9 teams will be kicking off their bowl game this year with a different head coach than they started the season.


The longest running bowl game is the Rose Bowl Game in Pasadena, California.  It has been played 102 times and is referred to as “the granddaddy of them all.”  This year it pits the Pac-12 champion Stanford Cardinal against the BIG 10 runner-up Iowa Hawkeyes.


The highest number of teams from a single conference competing in a bowl game this season.  Both the SEC and PAC-12 will be sending 10 teams to bowl games.


The number of miles the Cincinnati Bearcats will be traveling to play against the San Diego State Aztecs in the Hawaii Bowl.  This is the longest bowl trip of the year.


The number of teams that have earned the right to compete in bowl games and continue practicing for an extra few weeks this season.


Teams competing in bowl games that finished the 2015 regular season with fewer than 3 losses.

Anthony Flynn selected to drive Company growth in Baseball

Before joining XOS, Flynn spent fifteen years with the New York Yankees. In that time Flynn worked his way up the organizational ladder starting as an intern, moving on to baseball operations, and has spent the last seven years as the team’s Director of Major League Video Services.

In his new role, Flynn will look to build upon the success of the company’s flagship products, XOS Thunder and XOS ThunderCloud technology platforms.  He will work closely with the XOS product development team to fine tune solutions that meet the evolving needs of the baseball technology marketplace.
